He believes that Nicholas, brother of Sir James, must have died without issue otherwise the Lawrence lands would have passed through Nicholas instead of through the sisters of Sir James.2

     Sir Oliver Lawrence, the soldier, was the seventh son of Nicholas and Mary. He settled on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset at Grech Orange where his descendants gradually collected lands rivaling those of the Ashton Lawrences.
