     William Lawrence was the eldest son and heir of William Lawrence of Shurdington. He matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford, 30 March 1610, at age 16 and graduated 25 October 1613 with a B. A. He was a student of the Inner Temple in 1614. His will was proved at Gloucester in 1683.2

     William Lawrence was born on 12 February 1637.1 He married first Anne Martyn, daughter of James Martyn, on 24 September 1667 in St. Margaret's Church, Westminster, Middlesex, England.1 He married second Dulcibella ? about 1693/95.1 William died on 29 August 1697 at age 60.1 He was interred on 7 September 1697 in Badgeworth, Gloucestershire, England.1

     William was educated in Hackney and later at some college unnamed. He was admitted at Gray's Inn in 1654/55, the date of entry 18 October 1654 is annotated "erased" and is repeated on 22 September 1655. He left without being called to the Bar. In 1659 or 1660, he transterred to the Middle Temple, and was called to the Bar in June 1662. ]William left a lengthy and complicated will of six large folios dated 30 April 1697, proved 11 February 1697/8, settling his extensive property on very many Lawrence kinsmen in tail-male. His widow, Dulcibella had the estate at Shurdington for life.1
