     Mary Jane Wilhite was born in Tennessee.1A Mary Jane has been included by some as a child of John and Margaret Wilhite and some have indicated she had a daughter Phoebe, apparently illigitimate. However, I have been unable to find any records of Mary. There is a Phoebe listed in the 1900 census as a niece to William and Amanda (Wilhite) Dykes. This is probably the Phoebe attributed to Mary. However, she could have been the daughter of Elisha. Elisha was last listed on the 1880 census as single and with his parents and died in 1887. He could have married and fathered this Phoebe who was born in 1883 between 1880 and his death in 1887.
