     Dorothy Mae Walker was born on 15 March 1919 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama.1 She married first Unknown Hollifield before 1956. She married second Ernest Ross Lawrence, son of Carl Greenville Lawrence [Sr.] and Jessie Kidder Harper, son of Carl Greenville Lawrence [Sr.] and Jessie Kidder Harper, on 21 July 1956 in Columbus, Lowndes Co., Mississippi.2 Dorothy died on 11 February 2005 at age 85. Last residence listed in the Social Security Death Index was Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama.3,1 She was interred on 14 February 2005 in Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama.3

     Dorothy's obituary:

     LAWRENCE, DOROTHY MAE, passed quietly from this earth on Friday, February 11, 2005. She was the wife of the late Ernest Ross Lawence and the mother of the late Sheila Ann Loggins. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Leslie and Peggy Hollifield. She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Elizabeth Cunninghamd, Dee Winstid, Tery Smith and husband Alan, and Ellen Townley and husband Cary. Mrs. Lawrence is also survived by he eight great grandchildren, Amy, Adam, Aaron, Jessica, Leslie, Hayley, Trent, and Blake. Mrs. Lawrence leaves behind a sister, Mildred Pitts; a brother, James Edward Walker; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Roebuck Chapel with burial to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 13, 2005, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Ridout's Roebuck Chapel is directing.3

     James Robert Newsome was born on 5 January 1910 in Vincent, Shelby Co., Alabama.1,2 He married Thelma Marie Lawrence, daughter of Carl Greenville Lawrence [Sr.] and Jessie Kidder Harper, on 3 November 1934 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., Alabama.3 James died on 13 August 1989 at age 79. Last residence listed in the Social Security Death Index was Las Cruces, Dona Ana Co., New Mexico.1,4,2 He was interred on 16 August 1989 in Hillcrest Cemetery in Las Cruces, Dona Ana Co., New Mexico.1
