     Thomas Nokes Jr. was born between 1810 and 1820.¹ He married Susan Mullins, daughter of Daniel Coleman Mullins and Oridema Lyle, before 1835. Thomas died before 28 June 1847.²

     On 7 November 1834, Thomas Nokes, Jr. of Warren Co. deeded ten acres on the head waters of dry fork of Smith's Fork to G. W. Rose of the same place. ³

     Katherine Taylor deeded 50 acres on Sickamore Fork of Clear Fork of Smith Fork, it being land on which the said Katherine now liveth to Thomas Nokes on 14 October 1839. Thomas Nokes deeded 50 acres in the 10th District to Alfred S. Hancock on 26 October 1840.³ On 20 June 1837, Drury Spurlock of Warren County deeded 60 acres on Kerby's Creek, a branch of clear fork, to Thomas Nokes and on 28 October 1841, Drury Spurlock deeded to Thomas Nokes 86 acres on Kerby's branch of clear fork.³ Thomas Nokes deeded 150 acres in the 10th district to Hiram N. Dodd on 31 October 1841.³ Luke Sherley deed 24 acres on the south side of Short Mountain to Thomas Nokes on 23 October 1841.³ On 16 January 1844, Thomas Nokes deeded 30 acres in the 10th District to William C. Nokes.³ On 19 January 1844, Thomas Nokes deeded 40 acres in the 9th District to Asa Smith.³ This could be Thomas Jr. or perhaps some of these transactions may be for his father Thomas Nokes Sr.

     On 19 December 1843, Medford Caffey issued a title bond to Thomas Nokes.³ Thomas Nokes issued a title bond to William Nokes on 14 September 1846.³ Thoams Nokes and Archebald Stone issued a title bond to David M. Jarratt on 28 January 1846.³ These title deeds are subject of a Chancery Court case between Medford Caffey and Susan Nokes and William Nokes, executors of the estate of Thomas Nokes.

     Thomas was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Cannon Co., Tennessee. Enumerated were:

          2 White Males 15-20, Unknowns, perhaps brothers
          1 White Male 20-30, Thomas
          1 White Female under 5, Mary
          1 White Female 5-10, Martha
          1 White Female 15-20, Unknown, perhaps a sister
          1 White Female 20-30, Susan.¹

     Martha Ann Nokes was born circa 1835 in Tennessee.^1,2,3 She married James S. Elder on 12 March 1856 in Davidson Co., Tennessee.¹

     James and Martha moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1870.¹

     Martha Ann Nokes was listed at age 15, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Susan Nokes in Cannon Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1850 enumerated 8 September 1850.²

     Mary J. Nokes was born circa 1837 in Tennessee.^1,2,3 She married George W. Hickman on 6 April 1864 in Rutherford Co., Tennessee.⁴ Mary died before 1870.⁵

     Mary J. Nokes was listed at age 13, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Susan Nokes in Cannon Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1850 enumerated 8 September 1850.¹

     Mary J. Nokes was listed at age 22, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Nathaniel Harper in Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1860 enumerated 7 June 1860.²

     William H. Nokes was born circa 1844 in Tennessee.^1,2,3 He married Angeline Elizabeth McMurry, daughter of William Clark McMurry and Hannah Elizabeth Sloan, on 25 November 1870.⁴

     William was Captain of a Nashville fire company in the 1880s. A quilting frame he made for his sister-in-law is illustrated in The Magazine Antiques, Sept. 1971, page 389.⁵

     William H. Nokes was listed at age 6, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Susan Nokes in Cannon Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1850 enumerated 8 September 1850.¹

     William H. Nokes was listed at age 17, born in Tennessee, as a member of the household of Nathaniel Harper in Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1860 enumerated 7 June 1860.²

     In the Census of 1880 enumerated 1 June 1880, William H. Nokes was listed as head of household. He was listed at age 37, occupation as a carpenter, born in Tennessee. Also enumerated in the household: Angeline Elizabeth Nokes, Henry H. Nokes and William E. Nokes.³

     James Lee Roy Harper Jr. was born in October 1893 in Tennessee.^1,2,3,4,5 He married Portia L. Rains, daughter of Unknown Rains and May C. ?, circa 1915.⁵

     Roy Harper was listed as a son at age 6, born in Tennessee, in the household of Roy Harper in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1900 enumerated 23 June 1900.²

     J. LeRoy Harper Jr. was listed as a son at age 16, born in Tennessee, in the household of J. LeRoy Harper in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1910 enumerated 18 April 1910.³

     Roy Harper Jr. was listed as a son-in-law at age 25, occupation as a teller at a bank, born in Tennessee, in the household of May C. Rains in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1920 enumerated 15 January 1920.⁶

     In the Census of 1930 enumerated 14 April 1930, Roy Harper Jr. was listed as head of household in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee. He was listed at age 39, occupation as secretary for a trust company, born in Tennessee. Also enumerated in the household: Portia L. Harper, May C. Rains and Mary F. Rains.⁵

     Willie G. Harper was born in January 1897 in Tennessee.^1,2,3 She married John? Harris.⁴

     Willie G. Harper was listed as a daughter at age 3, born in Tennessee, in the household of Roy Harper in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1900 enumerated 23 June 1900.¹

     Willie G. Harper was listed as a daughter at age 13, born in Tennessee, in the household of J. LeRoy Harper in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1910 enumerated 18 April 1910.²

     Willie G. Harper was listed as a daughter at age 22, born in Tennessee, in the household of James Lee Roy Harper in Nashville, Davidson Co., Tennessee, in the Census of 1920 enumerated 6 January 1920.³
