Sloan & Other New England Families Charts

It is through the Sloan family that some New England seasoning is added to the southern stew that makes up my ancestry. George Sloan Sr. immigrated to Connecticut from Ireland in the mid-1750s with his wife Mary Campbell and their children. His son Thomas Sloan Sr. married Susannah Pratt and had nine children. Their son Thomas Sloan Jr. married Hannah Barnard and had nine children. John Henry Sloan, a son of Thomas and Hannah, moved first to New York where he married Angeline Elizabeth Jessup in 1829. Families of Early Hartford indicates that John married a Rebecca Bowles in 1828. This may have been a first wife who died after the marriage. John and Angeline moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1841 where he ran the Leviathan Livery Stable in downtown Nashville. It is through Susannah Pratt, wife of Thomas Sloan Sr., that the additional New England seasoning is added to my stew. Some of the New England surnames connected with this seasoning are Griswold, Hicks, Hull, Humfrey, Leigh, Pinney, Pratt, Pyssing, Thrall, and Warner. Clicking on the surname will take you to the English progenitor of the family.
