Jonas Lawrence was born on 9 January 1776.1 He married Charlotte Elizabeth Holland, daughter of Joseph Holland.1 Jonas died on 19 October 1813 at age 37.1During the War of 1812 Jonas Lawrence served in Capt. David Dukes Company of Infantry which was called into service by the Commandant of the 59th Regiment from May 1, 1813, to May 6, 1813. The Muster and Pay Roll indicates Jonas Lawrence was paid for 3 days service.1
The following bill of sale between James Cotton and Jonas Lawrence is recorded in Nothampton County, North Carolina.1
Know all men by these presents that I James Cotton of Northampton County and State of North Carolina, for and in consideration of the sume of Seventy five pounds in Gold and Silver to me in hand paid, by Jonas Lawrence of the County and State aforesaid The receipt whereof, I do hereby acknowledge, have bargained, Sold and delivered, and by these presents, according to the due form of law, do bargain. Sell and deliver unto the said Jonas Lawrence a certain Negroe man by the name of Locker formerly the property of John Lawrence of Nansemond County and the State of Virginia and the said Lawrence give the said negroe by deed of gift to James Dickenson of Northampton County and State of North Carolina and the said Dickenson in his last will and testament give the said negroe to his Daughter Elizabeth, to have and to hold the said bargained negroe unto the said Jonas Lawrence, his heirs Exec Adm and assigns for Ever and I the said James Cotton do for my Self my Heirs, etc. for Ever warrant and defend the right and title of said Negroe Locker unto the said Jonas Lawrence and his Heirs for Ever, having a good and Lawful right to sell and dispose of the same, as witness my hand and seal this 11th day of Feby 1796.

Between Benjamin Lawrence & Honour his wife & Shadrack Griffen & Ann his wife on the one part & Jonas Lawrence on the other part Witnesseth that the said Benjamin Lawrence & Honour his wife & Shadrack Griffen & Ann his wife for & in consideration of One hundred & Sixty pounds virg: mony to them in hand paid by the said Jonas Lawrence, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledg'd - Have bargain'd, sold & deliver'd & by these presents doth bargain sell & deliver unto the said Jonas Lawrence, a certain tract of land lying in Nansemond County near Southquay formerly the property of Miles Lawrence deceased containing one hundred & Seven acres more or less, bounded by Black water River & the Lands of Joseph Holland & Jonas Lawrence & the reversion and reversions remainder & remainders, yearly & other rents, issues & profits thereof, & ever part & parcell thereof, & also all the right title claim & demand whatever of them the said Benjamin Lawrence & Honour his wife & Shadrack Griffen & Ann his wife, in, to or out of the said Lands & tenements. Robert Lawrence was born on 17 August 1793.1 He married Elizabeth G. Allen, daughter of William Allen and Mary Houghton, on 15 December 1814.1 Robert died on 29 October 1866 in Nansemond Co., Virginia, at age 73.1 He was interred in St. John's Church Cemetery in Chuckatuck, Nansemond Co., Virginia.2Robert met his future wife, Elizabeth Allen, while in Norfolk serving in the War of 1812. Her home was in Warwick County.

Mary Lawrence was born on 26 November 1823.1 Mary died unmarried on 7 February 1910 at age 86.1 She was interred in St. John's Church Cemetery in Chuckatuck, Nansemond Co., Virginia.2
