     Minnie Jane Platt was born on 11 March 1878 in Hernando Co., Florida.¹ Minnie died on 2 May 1879 in Hernando Co., Florida, at age 1.¹

     Raleigh Platt was born on 22 April 1866 in Hernando Co., Florida.¹ Raleigh died on 9 January 1869 in Hernando Co., Florida, at age 2.¹

     Elizabeth Alice Platt was born on 30 November 1863 in Hernando Co., Florida.¹ She married James Neil Sumner, son of Alex Sumner and Sara ?, on 8 August 1878.¹Elizabeth grew up as the oldest girl in the family. She was her mother's helper and had complete charge of her brother Jim. She was born at her Grandfather Jackson's home near Pasco. She grew up with the rest of the family on the homestead about two miles north of San Antonio, Florida.

     She had blue eyes and flowing black hair. Elizabeth did the family washing at the spring nearby.

     Most of the Platt family lived in Manatee County. Alice remembered taking a trip in a two wheeled road cart or buggy and had to ford the Manatee River.

     Her earliest schooling was a Wake Forest Academy, which was a private school maintained by the few families of the neighborhood and taught by Mr. Carter. Later her parents sent her to a private boarding school in Tampa.

     Since there were no railroads as yet into this part of the state, the settlers along Ft. King Road did their trading in Tampa. They usually took a load of produce to market by wagon, and in exchange secured staple supplies. Neil Sumner was usually among those making the trip. It was only thirty miles away but was a good days journey at that time. On one occasion he had a passenger on his return trip. School was out at the private school where E. Alice Platt attended and she wanted a ride home. So it was arranged that she should ride with her neighbor and former schoolmate, Neil Sumner.¹

     Florissa Azelene Platt was born on 25 February 1868.¹ She married James Milton Blanton, son of Jesse Blanton and Martha Howell, on 19 November 1885 in Hernando Co., Florida.¹ Florissa died on 29 April 1949 at age 81.¹

     William Albert Platt was born on 15 March 1871 in Hernando Co., Florida.¹ He married Edna Agnes Aman on 13 February 1890 in Hillsborough Co., Florida.¹ William died on 3 August 1903 in Tampa, Hillsborough Co., Florida, at age 32.¹

     James Newton Platt was born on 7 June 1873 near Tampa, Florida.¹ He married Minnie Matilda Bankston on 26 December 1903.¹ James died on 11 February 1948 in Decatur, Dekalb Co., Georgia, at age 74.¹

     Lewis Walter Platt was born on 9 February 1880 in Hernando Co., Florida.¹ He married Jennie Sharp on 7 December 1909 in Hillsborough Co., Florida.¹ Lewis died on 7 August 1950 at age 70.¹

     Mattie Hastings Platt was born on 2 September 1882 in Hernando Co., Florida.¹ She married John Horace Robles.¹ Mattie died in 1982.¹

     Martha Goss married James W. Jackson, son of William Staten Jackson and Elizabeth Ann Burnham.¹

     Francis Texana Parks married William Robert Whitfield, son of William Bailey Whitfield and Verlinda Schofield.¹

     Viola Chapman married William Robert Whitfield, son of William Bailey Whitfield and Verlinda Schofield, on 12 June 1870.¹
