Narrative

     William made a will on 24 December 1751. William's will: legacy to son, John, with reversion of the bequest to son Moses, if Moses has no heirs to his brother Benjamin; daughter Priscilla Hedgepeth, daughter Mary Holland, grandson, Wm. Holland; daughter Elizabeth Parker; grandson John Daughtry Jr. who was name Executor. Witnessed: Robert Whitefield, Charles Darden, Richard Daughtry.2

     His will was proved on 2 July 1752 in Isle of Wight Co., Virginia. The estate of William Daughtry was appraised by James Bryant, Jacob Butler, and John Lawrence and returned to the Court 6 August 1752.2

Howell, the wife of Stephen Howell, and my sons Elijah Daughtry and Elisah Daughtry 5 shilling each: to my grand daughters Elizabeth Gatling and Anne Gatling, daughters of Benjamin Gatling and Mary (sic) his wife one negro, bed and furniture, etc.: to my daughter Mary (sic) Futrell, wife of John Futrell, my plantation whereon I now dwell, all my land and negroes and all the rest of my Estate. Extrs.: my wife Elizabeth and James Vinson. Wits.: James Vinson, Henry Vinson, William Bryan X his mark, Clarky Bryan X her mark.4
