Brown (Braun) Family
Johan Michael Braun and Anna Juliana Karger arrived in Philadelphia on 26 September 1737 aboard the the Saint Andrew Galley from Rotterdam and settled in Lebanon, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. One researcher indicates that Johan was the son of Abraham Braun and his wife Margaret. I have not been able to confirm this. Anna Maria Braun, daughter of Johan Michael Braun and Anna Juliana Karger married Frederick Leonard. The Braun surname was eventually changed to Brown.
Johan Michael Braun served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 8th Company, 6th Battalion, Lancaster County Militia in the Revolutionary War. After the War he and his family moved to the Wytheville area of Virginia near Frederick Leonard and their daughter Anna Maria. Eventually they moved back to Pennsylvania where Johan died and is buried.
